Legal counsel for 25 states have asked United States District Judge Andrew Hanen to block President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration. The actions will effectively prevent deportation of 5 million people who are considered illegal immigrants. KeyeTV reports that Texas is the primary state behind this move.
Hanen earlier accused the Obama administration of criminal “child smuggling” by allowing the children of parents living in the United States illegally to come to the country.
The President’s decision was announced in November 2014, with Obama criticizing Congress’ lack of action on a national comprehensive immigration law. He said that the lack of action forced him to declare his new provisions on the issue, exercised via his presidential powers.
