Senior White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer has stated that United States President Barack Obama will decide by the end of the summer on how to address concerns regarding immigrants who are in the country illegally.
As to rumors that Obama might hesitate on the deportation of at least 5 million of these immigrants, Pfeiffer said these rumors are hearsay and “uninformed speculation.”
Pfeiffer stated that Obama is awaiting recommendations from Attorney General Eric Holder and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, and that any initiative of the administration will be within the “confines of the law”.
Pfeiffer said Obama will be acting in his own capacity as president due to Congress’ failure to adequately repair the country’s immigration system, including allocating money to help deal with the increasing problem of children crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
