People from all over the state of Texas who are opposed to Texas Governor Gregory Wayne Abbott’s views and actions regarding immigration reform marched on the streets of Austin, Texas until they reached the Governor’s Mansion on Saturday, November 21, a day which, incidentally, is the first anniversary of the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA). The marchers were attempting to call Governor Abbott’s attention to what they believe to be misguided opinions and political errors on his part in relation to immigration reform.
Aside from showing their support for the DAPA initiative, the people in the march also supported the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which was started by United States President Barack Obama in 2012 and made it possible for undocumented immigrant children to obtain their first identification cards, get legal work permits, and avoid deportation.
