An 11-year-old immigrant from El Salvador lost his life on Thursday, August 6 after suffering from a heat stroke near the Anzalduas International Bridge, south of Mission, Texas – just near the United States border.
A Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) team immediately responded to the accident site once they learned about the incident.
According to the statement released by BORSTAR officials to local news channel KGBT-TV in Harlingten, the boy was unresponsive when emergency medical responders got to him, and so they transported him via helicopter to a local hospital for testing, evaluation, and possible treatment.
Unfortunately, the boy succumbed to his injuries, which were allegedly due to heat exhaustion, the U.S. Border Patrol stated.
